The Red Steeple podcast is a production of Nolensville First United Methodist Church in Nolensville, Tennessee.  In this episode, Mary Beth Hagan and my wife Jennifer Powell talk about how faith in God can lift a person in the middle of grief and loss.  During this episode, they talk about Jennifer's story of walking through unimaginable grief after the loss of our beautiful daughter Lily Kate Powell, and how she continues to find joy in life.  At the end listen to Lily Kate's precious rendition of "Amazing Grace" during her piano recital.
Edited and produced by Amanda Jones.

Cecilia Kathryn “Lily Kate” Powell lived life to the fullest. She loved others deeply and made friends easily. She was joyful, gregarious, beautiful, smart, and creative - but most importantly she loved God and spread that light to others. She had an amazing and vivid imagination, loved to read constantly, played piano, performed theater, and was so fun-loving. She danced through life. She loved school and loved her family and friends.  She was best friends with her little brothers, Danny and Patrick.

On August 17, 2017, we were devastated when Lily Kate died in a tragic car accident, 13 days before her 10th birthday. We continue to be inspired by Lily Kate’s life and how she often showed love to others. She had a way of making others feel special. Our Foundation’s goal is to continue to share her story and spread kindness to others in her memory.

Following her death, we were overwhelmed with memorial donations providing funds for two Choral Commissions in her memory, performed by the Cecilia Ensemble and the Davidson Chorale of Augusta, GA, and funds for an annual fine arts scholarship. All proceeds from the #LoveLikeLily “Merch” page (coined by brother Danny) go towards the Foundation, as well as gifts through the "donate" button on each page.

Every February, we promote acts of kindness through the #LoveLikeLily Challenge- a 14 day challenge to do one act of kindness each day.

Lily Kate’s favorite color was “rainbow” and it seems fitting that we remember and honor her colorful life by spreading love to others as she did.  #LoveLikeLily
